Makeup For Women Over 50

A simple, radiant makeup look for women over 50.

Finally, makeup that won't accentuate deep lines or wrinkles and looks like your own skin.

The Secret to Dewy, Radiant Skin

This blog is for Women that are in their 60s or older, and they want to have really dewy, radiant-looking skin. It is achievable with a few products. But first, I want to tell you a little secret—it's all about what goes under your makeup first that's going to give that really genius to the skin, that helpful blow that you want to have in your makeup, rather than looking like you've got makeup on.

 Prepping the Skin

So, for today's look, what we've used is the skin primer, which is also a day moisturiser, and we've used the antioxidant facial oil. Okay, these two, we've popped on a pump of each at the same time and applied that as a moisturiser. What that's going to do is give a really nice chewiness to the skin, a hydrated look to the skin, and it's making your foundation look much more skin-like than foundation.

 Applying Foundation for over 50's

Okay, so what we're going to do is get started on Bev. Bev is in her mid-60s, and we're going to go through how you can achieve a really simple look that makes you look healthy and more radiant. Okay, so you can see on this side of Bev's face, we have already started. So you can see the difference between just applying a little bit of foundation and a couple of other products.

Using Hydrating Cream Foundation Stick

What I'm going to use today is the hydrating cream foundation stick. So, I've already applied the skin primer and the oil that I mentioned. We've already done that just to save time. And what you're going to do with the foundation stick is you're going to apply that just anywhere on the face, and then we're going to buff it in with the kabuki brush. The colour that I'm using is medium tan, and the reason I'm using medium tan, while it might look quite a bit darker, is because we're matching it to the décolletage. As you get older, you invariably got a little bit of sun damage on the chest, and it's important that you colour-match that. Even though you might think you're quite fair, you don't want to look like your face has a different appearance from your neck. You want to colour-match it to your neck and give it a bit of a lift. So going up a little bit of a shade is going to help with that dewiness and that radiance and that healthy-looking skin.

Benefits of the Hydrating Cream Foundation Stick

Using the foundation stick, the hydrating cream mineral and organic, it has soothing and calming properties. It's extremely hydrating, this particular foundation. So, it's excellent for people with more mature skin, fine lines, and deep wrinkles. It helps to plump up those areas. It also has vitamin A&E, so really good antioxidants to help fight free radical damage. So, this particular foundation not only helps you look great, but it's also doing something for the skin as well. What's also good about this stick is you can just go back where you need a little bit of extra coverage.

Applying Brow Enhancement and Concealer

Next, let's enhance the eyebrows. Always colour match to your eyebrow hair. I'm going to use fair brows just on Bev, and I'm just going to go over her natural brow shape. We can talk about correcting brows in another tutorial, but this one, I'm just going to fill in and define more of these brows because that instantly gives a lift to the eye. If you just spend a couple of extra minutes monitoring that, that's going to give a really nice lift to the eye. Then, you just away any fallout that might have come off the dust. Grab a peachy sleep concealer, which is one of our best-selling products. This is going to help correct the dark circles under the eyes. You pop this on like an eye cream. Now, if you've got puffy eyes, then you may want to choose the concealer in medium tan or medium olive that directly matches your foundation. The peachy sleep is a corrective concealer, so it can make puffiness look worse if you are particularly puffy in this area. So, the peachy sleep is completely fine for Bev, and you can see that's given a little bit of a lift to the under-eye circles. You don't want to accentuate fine lines or deep lines, so make sure you don't apply too much, and that's why using a finger is great because it warms the product up.

Adding Blush and Luminizer

Now, let's pop on the coral radiance cream blush. All you need to do is put a little bit on your finger and start on the tip of the cheekbone, not too low because you don't want to drag your face down. It's all about making the face open. So, that's a really nice dewy flush to the cheeks, and the cream blushes are great because they also hydrate the skin and deliver some nutrients to the cheeks, making that area look nice and hydrated. Next, put on the loose mineral luminizer. Just put it around in a C shape. We don't want to put it all over the face. We just want to put it where you'd like to look healthy and make the cheekbones stand out. It gives a really nice subtle sheen around the face, almost not noticeable. It's just a gentle luminescence that you'll see as you move your face around during the day.

Eye Definition and Mascara

Now, let's add some eyelid definitions without using eyeliner. Just grab an angle brush, pin it down for me, and just one of the brow dust. Well, you can use an eyeliner, but just use it in the corner. Don't worry about trying to go the whole way along because you're not going to get a straight line. It's probably going to end up on the eyelid during the day. So, the brow dust is going to stay put or an eyeshadow colour will stay put a lot longer. Focusing on the outer corner is going to make your eye look bigger and not closed in, especially if your eyes are starting to look a bit smaller as you age. Looking up for me, I'm now going to put that same colour on the outer corner, no further than the iris. What this does is, by popping it just on that outer corner, it's instantly given Bev's eyes height. It's made the illusion that they're a little bit wider than they are, which is what we want to achieve. We want that big, open-looking eye. It's literally a C shape. If you make a mistake, just go and grab a clean brush and blend that away. Then, what I like to do is pop on the brown-coloured mascara, which is our Hello Lashes mascara. If you struggle with skin on the eye, just hold your eyelid up like this as you're applying it. Now, I use brown in the mascara because it's much more natural and forgiving than black, especially if you're fair and getting a bit older. Just focus on the outer corners of the eyes.

 Finishing Touches

Lastly, you can quickly finish off with a lipstick or gloss that you're happy with. Just rub that together for me. For some extra hydration, I always like to finish off with some rose water. It makes my makeup look much more skin-like. And there you have it! This particular look can be done in less than 5 minutes, and it's a really quick way of stepping out into the day and feeling that your skin looks a lot healthier.
