A Simple Technique to Define Hooded Eyes

A simple technique to define hooded eyes Using our Mineral Eye Crayon as a stencil & NEW Matte Eye Shadows.

  1. Technique for Hooded Eyes: Creating a Classic, Elegant Look

If you're wanting a really classic, elegant eye for someone who has hooded eyes, then this is a really good technique that's simple, using the stencil of one of our chubby crowns. You can use any colour that you want. I'm going to use the copper and one of our new matte shades.

  1. Eyeshadow Placement: Creating the Stencil

So, all you need to do is just place a little dot, just about a centimetre (less than a centimetre probably) underneath the brow line and then place your selected colour in one of the crayons along the brow bone into a dome shape and just finishing slightly into the crease of the eye. So, starting on the brow bone, a slight dome shape into the eye, and then what we're going to do is then place this crayon in a downwards motion so you've kind of got a little bit of a "C" happening there. Now, I'm just going to intensify that, now that we've got the placement right, and I want this really on the brow bone, not in the crease of the eye, and you'll see why in a moment. And then again, I'm just placing a little bit more down the eye here. What this is going to do is give you a stencil to work on when you come to apply your eyeshadow, but this particular look gives balance to hooded eyes.

  1. Blending and Applying Eyeshadow

So, in a moment when I'm finished on Chloe, you'll see that it's actually given balance to the brow bone area and the eyelid area. Now, I'm going to just very roughly blend this. I'm not spending too much time blending this. It's just really to smudge it and get it to stick on the skin a little bit more, and then I'm going to go over the top with an eyeshadow. Now, I really like matte colours for this particular look. Matte obviously gives the illusion of making something look a little bit smaller, and that's what we're trying to achieve here, is to make that eyelid look a little bit smaller. So, I'm now going to apply the Russet Rose, which is a new colour, and I'm just going to blend that along that line. And for this particular look, we want to keep all of the eye or the eyelid quite nude or quite light compared to this particular crease. So, if you just look ahead now, Chloe...

  1. Achieving Balance and Symmetry

Okay, so now that I've got the placement where I want it, you can see that that's given really good balance to the eye. I'm now going to get a clean brush, and I'm just going to blend that a little bit more, keeping open for me. I find that if you keep your eyes open when you're blending, you'll be able to make sure that wherever you're blending is going to be where you need it for your eyes when they're open. Often when you're closing one eye, you're going to be blending in an area that maybe isn't where you need to blend it, so try and keep your eyes open so that you're getting a really good placement of that product for your eyes and the skin when it's open, just looking at me and closing.

  1. Final Touches: Blending and Adding Shimmer (Optional)

Now, you might want to put a like shimmer or more of a nude under the brow, that's up to you, but in this instance, again, I'm just using a clean brush, and I'm just gently blending away that harsh line
