SPF Explained:
Adorn Cosmetics mineral foundations are an Australian approved SPF 20+.
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. This is a rating given to over the counter sunscreen products and cosmetics which measures the sunscreen’s performance in absorbing or blocking UVB radiation. The higher the SPF ratings number, the greater the protection level. For example, an SPF sunscreen rating of 30 means if you use the sunscreen properly you can stay in the sun 30 times as long as without the sunscreen and get the same level of sunburn.
All Australian cosmetic and toiletry products are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for medicines, and NICNAS for cosmetics. Foundation falls under the cosmetic category and terefore regulated by NICNAS, as the 'primary' function of a foundation is to offer skin coverage. Its secondary function being sun protection. This means that if sun protection is your primary need, then a primary sunscreen should be used.
Adorn loose mineral foundations are certified broad-spectrum; which means that our mineral foundations offer protection against both UVA and UVB. For further information contact the TGA or NICNAS for further clarification.
How to achieve a dewy foundation finish
Step 1. Prepping the Skin: Start with a well-moisturised face. For dry skin, apply a nourishing Adorn Cosmetics face oil over your moisturiser to create a smooth base.
Step 2. Apply Loose Mineral Foundation: Using our vegan kabuki brush or complexion brush, apply the loose mineral foundation to your skin. The foundation will provide a natural light to medium coverage.
Step 3. Creating the Dewy Finish
You have two options:
a) Rosewater Face Mist: Lightly spritz rosewater over your face after applying the foundation. The rosewater adds moisture giving your skin a fresh, dewy glow.
b) Foundation Over Face Oil: For extra hydration and glow, apply a face oil over your moisturiser. This will give the skin a luminous finish.
How to achieve a matte foundation finish
Step 1. Prepping the Skin: Start with a clean and moisturised face.
Step 2. Apply Loose Mineral Foundation: Using our vegan kabuki brush or complexion brush, apply the loose mineral foundation to your skin.
Step 3. Creating a matte finish
You have two options:
a) Setting Powder for Oily Skin: For oily skin, dust a thin layer of setting powder over the foundation. The Adorn Cosmetic setting powder helps to control oil and keeps your makeup in place throughout the day.
b) HD Miracle Blur Setting Powder for Imperfections: If you have large pores or lines, opt for the HD Miracle Blur Setting powder. This powder blurs the appearance of fine lines and pores, giving your skin a smooth, airbrushed look.
How to Apply Adorn Cosmetics Loose Mineral Foundation
Step 1. Prep the skin: Start with a freshly cleansed and moisturised face.
Step 2. How to apply the minerals: You DO NOT have to tap or shake this mess-free jar to dispense the minerals. Using the Adorn Cosmetics Kabuki Brush, simply press the brush down firmly onto the stretchy mesh sifter. This will collect the minerals onto the tip of the bristles. Now swirl the brush around the jar to evenly distribute the minerals on the brush. Repeat this process until you have the coverage you are after.
Remember, a little goes a long way, and you can always add more if needed.
Start applying our mineral foundation from the center of your face, lightly buffing the it onto your skin in circular motions. For a heavier coverage press the minerals onto the face. Gradually work your way outward to ensure even coverage.
Step 3. Blending into the neck: To avoid a visible line of demarcation between your face and neck, gently blend the foundation down onto your neck using light strokes.
Step 4 (Optional). Mattify: If you have oily skin or live in a humid climate you can set the Adorn Cosmetics' Loose Mineral Foundation down with our Oil-Control Setting Powder. Use a soft, fluffy brush to lightly dust the powder over your face.
Dry Skin? Apply an Adorn Cosmetics' face oil over your moisturiser. This creates a more dewy liquid foundation finish. You may also like to spritz our rosewater face mist over your foundation.
Application Tip: You can also directly spritz our cruelty-free, Vegan Kabuki Brush with our Rosewater Face Mist before dipping it into the mineral foundation to give an instant liquid foundation.
Shade Selection: Find your personal mineral foundation shade by applying a small amount along your jaw line in the cooler months, and decollatage/chest in the warmer months; if it blends and there are no obvious lines, then it's a perfect match.
How to Refill Your Mineral Foundation
1. Remove the lid.
2. Push a clean finger down into the stretchy mesh until you touch the bottom of the jar.
3. Curl your finger up and under the black sifter. Firmly pull and lift, using your thumb as support on the outisde of the jar.
4. Dispense your refill.
5. Firmly replace the black sifter. You will hear a click once it is in the correct position.

If I am a Light Medium in the Cream Mineral Foundation Stick, will I be that shade in the Loose Mineral Foundation SPF 20+?
Yes. Our foundation shades are the same across all types. i.e., loose, liquid, compact, and cream.
Will this product dry my skin out?
No. You won’t find any skin-irritating, pore-clogging, or drying ingredients in our products, like cheap bulking fillers such as Talc, Rice Powder, and Bismuth Oxychloride.
Can I achieve a dewy look with this foundation?
Yes. Spritz over your makeup with our Organic Bulgarian Rosewater Mist for a more dewy, hydrated look.
Do I need to apply a skin primer underneath?
Yes. We recommend applying Adorn's Daily Brightening Primer Moisturiser underneath for a longer-lasting, more natural-looking makeup application.
