Makeup can look very different on changing skin than it does in a swatch or on a screen. Adorn samples let you test the real formula on your own skin, in your own lighting and through a normal day before buying full size.

For foundation in particular, we recommend testing formula as well as shade. The right colour is important, but so is whether the texture feels comfortable, sits smoothly over dryness and pores, stays fresh through the day and gives you the amount of coverage you actually want.

The Foundation Shade Finder includes eight foundation samples across four Adorn formulas, plus two primer samples. It is designed to help you answer two questions: which shade suits me, and which formula suits my skin now?

You can compare loose mineral, liquid, cream and BB textures side by side rather than guessing from product descriptions.

Samples are also available across selected concealers, blushes, bronzers and complexion products. This is particularly useful for products such as colour correctors, where undertone and placement matter as much as the shade itself.

How to test makeup on mature skin

1. Prepare your skin the way you normally would.
2. Apply a small amount first. Do not judge a foundation by a heavy first layer.
3. Check colour along the jawline in natural daylight.
4. Wear it for several hours before deciding.
5. Look at comfort, texture, pores, dryness, shine and finish - not only colour.

The best match is the one you still like later in the day.

Yes. Adorn samples contain the same formula as the corresponding full-size product; only the quantity differs.

How do I choose a foundation shade?

Test close shades along your jawline in natural daylight. The best shade should blend into the face, neck and upper chest without a visible line. If you are unsure, use our photo-matching service or speak with our in-house beauty team.

What if my skin is mature but oily?

Mature skin is not automatically dry. Try the Soft-Focus Liquid Foundation or Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation if you experience shine or combination areas.

What if foundation always looks dry on me?

Test a hydrating primer first, then compare the Hydrating Cream Foundation Stick or BB Cream. Apply less product than you think you need and build coverage only where necessary.
