Makeup for skin that has changed

As skin changes, foundation can start catching on dryness, texture and fine lines. Adding more coverage often makes the problem more visible. This formula is designed to be built in light layers so you can even the look of pigmentation, redness and uneven tone while keeping the finish breathable and natural.

Why mature skin loves it

Buildable from sheer to full coverage
Soft-focus finish helps blur the appearance of pores and texture
Non-drying, breathable mineral formula
SPF 20 mineral sun protection with non-nano zinc oxide
Water- and sweat-resistant for long wear
Non-comedogenic
Free from talc, bismuth, synthetic fragrances and parabens

Coverage without the mask

Use only as much as your skin needs. A light layer evens the complexion; additional layers can be buffed over pigmentation, redness, blemishes and discolouration. The goal is fresh, even-looking skin - not skin that looks covered.

How to apply mineral foundation on mature skin

Prep clean skin with moisturiser or primer. Tap a small amount of powder into the lid, swirl a soft kabuki brush into the minerals and tap off the excess. Buff lightly from the centre of the face outward, building only where you want more coverage. On changing skin, less is often more.

Frequently asked questions

Loose or pressed mineral foundation?

Choose Loose Mineral Foundation for loose powder applied with a brush and buildable coverage. Choose Pressed Mineral Foundation for a portable pressed compact with a soft-matte finish, particularly for oily or combination skin. If dryness is your main concern, compare the creamier Hydrating Cream Foundation Stick.

How do I apply loose powder around fine lines?

Start with well-moisturised skin and allow your skincare to settle. Pick up a small amount with a kabuki brush, tap off excess and buff gently. Build coverage only where needed, using less product over fine lines and dry patches.

How do I find my shade?

Use the Foundation Shade Finder or personalised shade-matching service to compare shades before choosing a full size.

Step 1: Prep Your Skin for Mineral Foundation

Start with a clean, well-moisturised face to ensure your foundation applies smoothly. If you have dry skin, apply a nourishing Adorn face oil over your moisturiser to create a hydrated, even base for flawless mineral foundation application.

Step 2: Apply Loose Mineral Foundation

Using a vegan kabuki brush or complexion brush, gently buff the loose mineral foundation into your skin. This technique helps achieve natural, buildable coverage that ranges from light to medium—perfect for an effortless, everyday look.

Step 3: Choose Your Foundation Finish

For a Dewy Makeup Look:
– Lightly mist your face with Adorn Rosewater Face Mist after applying foundation.
– For added radiance, mix or layer a few drops of face oil under your foundation.

For a Matte Foundation Finish:
– Keep skin fresh and lightly moisturised before application.
– Skip additional oils or mists to maintain a smooth, shine-free finish.

Step 4: How to Choose the Right Foundation Shade

– In cooler months, test foundation shades along your jawline for a natural match.
– In warmer months, test shades on your chest or décolletage to account for sun exposure.
– The best foundation shade is the one that blends seamlessly into your skin.

SPF Explained: Adorn Cosmetics mineral foundations are an Australian approved SPF 20+. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. This is a rating given to over the counter sunscreen products and cosmetics which measures the sunscreen’s performance in absorbing or blocking UVB radiation. The higher the SPF ratings number, the greater the protection level. For example, an SPF sunscreen rating of 30 means if you use the sunscreen properly you can stay in the sun 30 times as long as without the sunscreen and get the same level of sunburn.
All Australian cosmetic and toiletry products are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for medicines, and NICNAS for cosmetics. Foundation falls under the cosmetic category and therefore regulated by NICNAS, as the 'primary' function of a foundation is to offer skin coverage. Its secondary function being sun protection. This means that if sun protection is your primary need, then a primary sunscreen should be used. Adorn loose mineral foundations are certified broad-spectrum; which means that our mineral foundations offer protection against both UVA and UVB. For further information contact the TGA or NICNAS for further clarification.

Does SPF 20+ Loose Mineral Foundation provide full coverage and sweat resistant wear?

Yes. Our SPF 20+ Loose Mineral Foundation is designed to deliver buildable full coverage and sweat resistant performance without feeling heavy. The finely milled mineral pigments adhere naturally to the skin, helping your makeup stay put even in warm or humid conditions.

How does the SPF protection work?

The SPF 20+ Loose Mineral Foundation contains natural mineral UV filters that sit on the skin’s surface and reflect harmful rays. It offers everyday sun protection while acting as a full coverage and sweat resistant foundation. For prolonged sun exposure, we recommend layering over a mineral sunscreen.

Will it clog pores or cause breakouts?

No. This formula is non-comedogenic and free from harsh fillers. The breathable minerals allow the skin to function naturally while still delivering full coverage and sweat resistant wear.

How do I choose the right shade online?

Use our Foundation Shade Matching Tool to find your shade in minutes, or try our risk-free foundation sample sizes.

Will this foundation settle into fine lines?

No. The breathable mineral formula softens and blurs the look of fine lines rather than settling into them. When applied with a Kabuki Brush using light buffing motions, it creates a smooth, luminous finish.

What if I have dry skin?

If you have dry skin, preparation is key. For best results, apply a nourishing face oil before primer/moisturiser. This creates a hydrated base so the minerals glide on smoothly and maintain a luminous finish.

Layering over oil allows you to enjoy full coverage and sweat resistant performance without emphasising dryness or texture.
