Why blush matters as skin changes

Foundation and concealer can make the complexion look more even, but they can also reduce some of the natural variation that gives the face dimension. A small amount of blush placed deliberately can make the complexion look fresher and more awake.

The aim is not to create a dramatic stripe of colour. Start lightly, blend well and build only until the face looks balanced again.

Where should mature skin wear blush?

There is no single correct placement for every face. For a fresh, lifted-looking effect, begin on the upper area of the cheek and blend outward rather than concentrating colour low on the face. Use a light hand and adjust placement to your own bone structure.

If your skin is very dry and you prefer a dewier finish, you may prefer one of Adorn's cream or liquid cheek formulas instead.

On clean, moisturised skin (after foundation or base), tap a small amount of powder onto a fluffy blush brush.

Smile, then sweep the blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Blend it gently upwards toward the temples.

For mature or narrower faces: apply blush slightly above the cheekbones and blend outward to give a lifting effect.

To use as eyeshadow, pat onto lids and blend edges. To use as lip stain, apply lightly and top with a gloss.
