Understanding SPF in Adorn Mineral Foundations

Adorn Cosmetics' mineral foundations are Australian-approved SPF 20+, offering broad-spectrum UVA and UVB Protection. SPF measures how well a product absorbs or blocks UVB rays. For example, properly applied SPF 30 sunscreen allows you to stay in the sun 30 times longer than without protection while receiving the same level of sunburn.

In Australia, cosmetics are regulated by NICNAS. Adorn's loose mineral foundation's primary function is coverage, with sun protection as a secondary benefit. Adorn's foundations are certified broad-spectrum, meaning they protect against both UVA and UVB rays.

If sun protection is your main concern, use a primary sunscreen such as Adorn SPF50+ Mineral Face Sunscreen. Always follow the directions for use. Wear protective clothing, a hat, and eyewear when exposed to the sun. Avoid excessive sun exposure. Reapply regularly.

Prep skin with a moisturiser or primer to smooth texture and hydrate.


Use a kabuki or complexion brush to pick up loose powder, tap off excess, then buff into skin in light circular motions. Build more where needed.


For more radiant finish, apply a face oil or hydrating mist over moisturiser before the foundation. For a matte or semi-matte finish, skip oil and set lightly.


Always check your shade in natural light (chin or chest area helps) before committing, using the trial part of the set.

This is a rating given to over the counter sunscreen products and cosmetics which measures the sunscreen’s performance in absorbing or blocking UVB radiation. The higher the SPF ratings number, the greater the protection level. For example, an SPF sunscreen rating of 30 means if you use the sunscreen properly you can stay in the sun 30 times as long as without the sunscreen and get the same level of sunburn.
