Feet Treat

 

Walking, running, skipping, balancing and dancing. Our feet do it all. They are what get us from A to B, and usually in a rush. The only time we tend to regard our feet is when they are spread out in front of us beside a pool, or at the beach, and this can be a confronting image if there has been a lack of self-care.

 

What are the signs?


Dry feet are one of those universal issues that no one is immune to. Even if the rest of your skin is dewy and hydrated, your feet can often be the object of ongoing dryness. Why? The epidermis (the outermost layer of skin) on the feet contains an extra layer–known as the stratum lucidum - making this skin thicker than elsewhere on your body, it is therefore more difficult for moisture to penetrate.

There are also no oil glands or hair follicles on the bottom of the foot (despite some people having hairy toes- there's a visual). There's less lubrication and the area is more prone to hard skin as well as being subject to environmental conditions, abrasive surfaces and poor fitting shoes that don’t allow feet to breathe.

Repairing cracked feet takes some dedicated TLC and while pedicures are lovely to have, they are also expensive. So what can we do to administer a bit of natural toxin-free tenderness on our tootsies and save some money at the same time all year round?
